These handmade ceramic ring dishes are all glazes with various colors. Additionally, they feature a recycled glass "finish" on the surface of the dish.
To achieve the recycled glass finish, old glass bottles are broken into pieces using a hammer. Once broken into pieces, the glass is sprinkled onto the surface of the ring dishes. When fired in the pottery kiln to over 2000F, the glass melts down to create the smooth surface and crackled appearance.
Some glazes mix with the glass, resulting in a new color, while others repel the glass, showing the glass color over the base ceramic surface.
Pottery pieces with glass melted into them are not food safe and should not be placed in the dishwasher or microwave. They are solely used for decorative and "home" pieces, never food.
